Hi all
I'm using Back UPS PRO 1500 to protect my switches. I'm fine with this product but I'm experiencing a strange serie of problems. I have a rack where the latest four (4!!!) UPS faulted with the F06 error. I cannot understand the description form the user manual (what is Relay Welding ??) and all that I can tell is that the power cord in the wall plug is new.
Can you help me understand how and where to investigate to solve the problem ?
Thanks in advance

Hi, I have the same problem with mi APC PRO-1000 BR1000G, so my home wiring is the guilty? I have two more UPS (not APC) in the site working properly. It could be solved by plugging the UPS to a voltage regulator?
Thanks in advance!

Relay welding refers to the relay for the Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) function. There is a relay inside that is part architecture of your UPS to provide output to your equipment from the voltage transformer in an effort to adjust the output voltage if the input to your UPS from utility power is too high or too low. If this relay keeps welding, it is likely you're having problems with voltage at the site, especially with multiple units doing it - either too high or too low - and the AVR function is being used quite often and is perhaps "welding" the relay that taps the transformer output and becoming stuck so it no longer works properly. This might be clearable by turning the UPS on and off but as soon as the AVR function is required again, it will likely fault. The higher the current too, I think the more likeliness of welding due to the current and how the relay will weld due to a tiny arc that creates the weld.
Ultimately, you should investigate the input voltage to these UPSs and see if these UPSs are constantly in AVR mode (boost or trim for low or high voltage situations respectively) and see which it is to help address the potential power problem at the site. Are they all on the same circuit and prone to the same problems? You can also start by seeing what the input voltage is via the LCD on the front and also if the AVR icon is illuminated.
Hope this helps.
