Correct my understanding but I just updated to PCSS 1.2. from using Powerchute supplied with my BE850G2 UPS. I have found that monitoring only operates when the Windows system is active so power disturbances while my PC is asleep are not recorded. Pretty sure Powerchute was able to record these but I may be wrong.
So, can anyone please confirm that the only way to record events is to keep the PC awake 24x7? That doesn't seem correct but I can't find an answer anywhere in the docs or FAQ's. Thanks in advance.

Technically speaking as long as the APC PCSS Service is running all events will be captured.
Other factors are how the computer power save features are enabled. If the power save is defined to turn off HDD / SSD, USB, COM, etc.
Than APC PCSS won’t capture anything at all.

Thanks you for reply. I will pursue that avenue but perhaps you can tell me How / can I keep PCSS running while the computer is asleep? Currently, the PCSS logs confirm that monitoring stops when PC sleep starts.

I'll look into this further. I'm assuming that you are saying that PCSS can be set to wake upon an event trigger. Does the UPS not have it's own record? Isnt that what allowed the prior software to record these events when PC was asleep? Find it hard to believe APC would not consider any of these settings in the documentation or installation utility.

All of the small consumer grade UPS do not have any form of memory storage as it relates to events / data.
Enterprise systems also have limited to no memory storage that captures the data / event logs.
They rely on having a NMC (Network Management Card) in place to capture both logs.
NOTE: There is one exception as it relates to hard faults. If there is a critical hardware failure these events are captured and stored in a very small EPOM for later declaration.
When the system is powered up these hard faults are declared such as relay weld.
