I have a BE650G1 UPS which I use to keep my router and modem working during power outages. It does the job, but while the power is out, it gives four loud beeps every 35 seconds. This makes it hard to get work done.
My understanding is that there's no way to turn off those beeps.
If that is true, I've reached the point that I am going to open up the unit and find a hardware way to disable all sounds. Any advice on that?
Thanks,
Al

I’m not sure why you wouldn’t first install and check to see if the beeper can be disabled / muted via PCPE software first? If available it’s free and doesn’t impact the hardware at all as it relates to health & safety.
Regardless, once you remove the cover you’ll see a round / square piezo disk beeper. The easiest solution is to place some electrical tape on the beeper to see how the volume is effected.
Do not place anything that is combustible inside that may touch the input / output or charging circuit!

I would check what the options are in APC Power Chute Personal Edition (PCPE) as it relates to the beeper.
If available it will give you the option to disable the beeper when the UPS is on battery only mode due to power failure / power quality issue.
If that option isn’t available then muting the sound with the button is the only option. If you intend to remove / disconnect the beeper from the unit.
You’ll want to confirm it’s not integrated with the units MCU. You’ll know right away because the unit won’t operate correctly without the beeper in circuit! 🤣
If it does operate fine without the beeper you win. 👍 Having said this the obvious health & safety caveats need to be called out.
If the beeper is removed / disabled you’ll never know if there is an active fault or error physically from the unit. Relying on software like PCPE for this critical information is a disaster waiting to happen! 🤦♂️
Regardless, let us know what you decide to do and the final outcome. If the information provided here is on point and answers your question please do mark this as solved.
So others asking the same can reference that information. 👍

Thanks for the help. This is not connected to any computer. There is no button option. There is no expensive equipment connected to it.
What I really want to know is: If I open this puppy up, will there be a clear way to disable or muffle the speaker?

To be clear PCPE software doesn’t show any option to disable / mute the alarm beeper?!?
As it relates to the beeper you could take some foam and cover it up in hopes of reducing the output volume. As to physically disabling the beeper you can remove one side of the leg (desolder) and raise it up.
Test the system for normal operation and if there is no negative impact minus no sound you win! If the system doesn’t operate as expected simply resolder the leg. 👍

Thanks again.
This UPS is not connected to any computer, so the PCPE software is not involved.
The second part of your response is exactly what I plan to do.
I should have asked this: If I open the back of the UPS, will I have easy access to the speaker?
