Hello,
I found the parameter in the UPS specifications "Max runtime". Does anyone know the exact purpose of this parameter? Is this done to prevent the UPS from overheating or something else?
Example:
Thanks!

That number is based on either 50% load or 100% load. The vast majority of companies use 50% load to bolster the maximum operational runtime of their units.
Its just fake marketing to fool the general public . . . 👎
The only thing that matters is the real world load you have connected to the unit. Than see what you have in terms of operational runtime when you complete a grid down event / lights out test. ☝️
You’ll also notice below that silly 120 minute rating is the full load vs half load in minutes: Full load 480 watts = 1 minute, Half load 240 watts = 6:30 minutes?!?
120 minutes would be almost nothing connected to the unit! Why even bother stating this runtime when everyone WILL have at least 100 watts connected?!? 🤦♂️

Hi,
Well, one customer is in a situation where they have a very low load so the UPS runs for 2 hours and then shuts down, the UPS can run longer after being manually turned on, but the customer wants to remove this 120 minute limit so there is no need to turn on it manually.

The system by default is programmed to turn off at 2 minute of operational runtime. The user can adjust at what time the unit should power down.
If the user adjusts the system to say zero. The end result is shorter battery life and more cost to replace the same. The battery inside is rated to provide 3-5 years of service based on usage, power quality, temperature, and environmental conditions.
The cells can endure 260 full depleted cycles before degrading. Your customer should be made aware of the above so it won’t be a shock to find out the battery only lasted 1 year and cost her $45 - 85.XX for new battery. 👍
