ES 700 Battery Backup-Surge Protection stopped working and died
I have an APC Back up ES 700 which I bought three years ago. It has worked fine until now.
The recent time I have had some problems with the computer suddenly turned off and rebooted, it has happened twice.
First I thought that there was some problems with some part of the computer, most likely the power support but since this problem occurred twice with about two weeks between them, it was difficult t point out exactly what the problem is.
Today the same thing happened but this time the computer didn't reboot. I did spend some time with trying to make the computer start before I got a hunch and started to rearrange cables and such.
Then I discovered that the "Battery Backup-Surge Protection" part of the APC back up is totally dead while the "Surge Protection" part to which I have connected the printer is still functioning.
What is wrong and what can I do about it?
I must point out that the computer wasn't running on battery power when this happened. It was just normal, standard procedures which have been running smoothly until recently and there is no indication on the ES 700 itself which shows that anything is wrong. Both green lamps are shining as they should.
