We recently purchased a BE600M1 UPS.
The instructions say to use the USB cable to connect Data port to computer in order to download the PowerChute software. It does not specify whether it needs to remain connected.
Does it?

Hi,
The data cable does not need to be connected to download the software from APC.com. It does need to be connected with the software is installed and must remain connected to allow communications between the UPS and the software. If the cable is remove the UPS will not be able to communicate with the software so if there is a power issue or issue with the UPS the software - computer system will not be notified.
