Battery pack for XS 800 consists of two 12 volt batteries. What is output voltage supposed to be, 12v or 24v? Series or parallel hookup? Thanks! cp

CP,
You're stating that since you installed the new batteries ALL the LED's (Online, On Battery, Overload and Replace Battery) are flashing? Are they flashing in sequence or together? If they're flashing together, you've got an internal fault with the UPS, which is not going to be repairable. If they're flashing in sequence, it's possible the UPS is in Low Voltage Sleep Mode.

CP,
It should be 24v when read. But the question you raised poses a different answer. The answer is 115VAC Step-Approximated Sine Wave.

Perhaps the question was not clearly stated. I am only interested in the __DC*__* voltage input required by the XS 800 when there is no 115 v AC input. The battery pack for the XS 800 consists of two 12 volt batteries joined by a molded plastic join plate, four wired terminals (two to each battery) for the 2 batteries and one, three conductor terminal plug that fits a receptacle in the XS 800. If the batteries are connected in paralell (+ to + and - to -) the output would be 12 volts. If serially connected (+ to - and - to +) the output would be 24 volts.
A call to APC tech support (case C1-674342758) provided the info that output from the battery pack to the XZ 800 should be 12 volts! However, the plastic join plate and its wiring appear to be set up for a serial connection and a 24 volt output!
When set up for a 24 volt input from the battery pack, I get the green on line indicator and all other front panel indicator lights are flashing. Everything was working OK before I replaced the batteries. Replacements are Werker WKA12-7.5F2 which are supposedly a direct replacement for the original CS batteries.
Any help appreciated. cp

CP,
Thanks for clarifying. I was sure intially you wanted DC output voltage, but the question was posed differently than I would've expected, so I went for AC, and misfired.
I'll deal with the rep providing the incorrect information at a later time, but it's definitely 24VDC.
As for the reason why it's not working...
There's an addage around here that ONLY APC recommended batteries will work in APC Products. Customers question why, and we state we cannot ensure the validity of the 3rd party battery purchased, nor can we ensure complete compatibility.
I guess this would fall under that category.

The "APC" batteries are made by CS in China, the Werkers, also made in China have exactly the same specs, dimensions and terminals and, while they might not last quite as long, they were 2/3's the cost. My problem is not the battery manufacturer, it's the lights indicating an internal UPS fault. Perhaps this thread should be relocated? Are there any existing detailed trouble shooting procedures that I could use to track down the problem? Thanks. cp
