Hello APC forums,
I just purchased an SMT2200I and I could install it without problems. Everything connected to it works fine.
However, I cannot seem to be able to use the Agent software.
I have installed the latest PowerChute Business Edition from the APC website, but (see screenshot) I cannot access the UPS.
The UPS is connected via USB and it is correctly detected during installation of the Agent. I have not installed Server and Console.
The network setup is as following:
- eth0 on 192.168.1.2 directly connected to another tool
- eth1 on 10.0.0.2 directly connected to another computer for remote desktop
- NO internet connection
Could you assist me in understanding what is wrong?
Thank you!

Let me see if I could dig more information about this. Can you tell me what kind of Operating System are you using?

Is it possible for you to try accessing the agent using the IP addresses of the NIC one at a time instead of the local loopback address? One thing that I can see here is the IP binding.

Dear Jon,
thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately it does not work, using either NIC address. I have also checked and the windows firewall is OFF, and there are no other firewalls installed.
Is there any way to debug further?
Thank you for your help!

Let us start with the basic troubleshooting.
Kindly open the Services Window and check if the APC PBE Agent is running. Next, would it be possible to disable your network card one at a time? Can you also try using this URL https://
I have found a link about IP binding, see if this would ring a bell.

Thank you again for your quick reply.
1) The Agent is up and running
2) I tried the https address, but the result is the same
3) Java is installed and updated to the latest revision (26 IIRC)
I completely agree with you that the problem here must be the intricate network setup.
I have installed the software on another computer that has only one network card, and it all works perfectly, so I can use this to setup the shutdown of the UPS.
I have to properly read the document you link and see if that can help.
For the moment I can work around the problem with the second PC.
I will keep you posted when I can disconnect the network cards, at the moment this is not possible.
Thank you again!

I think the link that I just gave you is worth a try. I also found this note on one of our kbase Make sure the IP of the card you are adding to the configuration is the first item in the TCP/IP binding order.
