Hello,
My power went out and my office computer eventually shut down. Now my power is back but I can't get my UPS to come back on.
If I press the power button one time, it just beeps, and doesn't do anything.
If I press the power button, then hold for about a second, it starts to beep. I let go and the unit comes on but remains on battery power. The OnLine light flashes for a while then turns off. The OnBattery light stays on. This is even though there is power available to the unit. If I press the power button again, the unit turns off.
If I press the power button and hold it for a long time, there is a short beep, then a long beep (about three seconds). Sometimes if I let go after the long beep, nothing happens. Other times, the OnBattery, Overload, and ReplaceBattery flash a few times and then go out.
If I disconnect the internal battery, then press the power button one time, it just beeps, and doesn't do anything.
If I disconnect the internal battery, then press the power button, then hold for about a second, it starts to beep. I let go and the OnLine and Overload lights flash alternatively. If I press the power button again, the lights go out.
If I disconnect the power cord from the wall, leaving the internal battery plugged in, everything is similar except in this scenario: if I press the power button and hold it for a long time, there is a short beep, then a long beep (about three seconds). When I let go after the long beep, nothing ever happens. The OnBattery, Overload, and ReplaceBattery never flash.
If I disconnect the power cord from the wall, and disconnect the internal battery, it doesn't reset anything. When I reconnect everything the behavior is the same.
I have had this problem before on my home computer, which has a similar APC unit (Back-UPS XL? 1200 I think). Everything was the same as this. Then the next day it mystically started to work again. Is there some sort of design flaw? I guess I will just come back to the office tomorrow and see if this does the same thing.
Please advise as to what the problem is, and how to fix it. Thank you for reading.
