Can I route phone line to DSL router through BackUPS RS 700?
I have a new Back-UPS RE 700. On the back are two ethernet ports (RJ45).
Is it possible to route the phone line to my DSL router/modem through those ports so my router/modem is protected from power spikes on the phone wire?
Here's what I tried.
I bought 2 plug converters so I could convert my RJ11 phone wire plugs into RJ45 plugs. I then connected the phone line from the wall to the UPS and from the UPS to my router. Internet worked just fine.
However, my telephone handset could not receive any calls. Yes, the phone line to my handset has the dsl filter thing installed.
Is there anything else I can try?
Should I have purchased a different UPS in order to protect my router/modem from phone line surges?
