Hi guys,
I just got a new APC UPS BK650-AS, and barely a days old, I'm new to APC, so I didn't know that you need to manually connect the battery before using. So I followed the instruction, opening the battery cover, pushing the red wire + to the battery as instructed, I powered up the UPS, connected to wall socket and all went okay charging for an hour, only the green-online lights ups
After an hour, the UPS begins to chirp, the "green/online" lights up solid, while the replace battery flashes with a chirping sound, I checked the manual and it says that the problem is that the "internal battery not connected". I checked again the battery thinking it was loose but it looks like its okay, tried several times again and to my dismay I still get the "green/online solid" and "replace battery flashes" with a chirping sound situation.
By the way, I did not attached any computer stuff on the UPS while I experience this problem. So its basically just a UPS attached to the wall socket.
One thing, I notice that the battery has a plastic cap, is this really the design? I think the terminals are not meeting up coz its very hard, I'm afraid to push it hard thinking it will break anything.
Tried to search the forum and I can see several threads with the same issue. So the question, am I connecting the battery correctly? Why did it went well for the first 1 hour, after that this situation happened... This is barely one day old unit, does that mean its defective and need to request for a replacement?
Please help as I'm truly exhausted checking this up.

Hi dmist24, if you belive that the connector is on the solid and the unit is still saying the battery is not connected i would suggest calling into tech support to further troubleshooting and get a possible RMA for the unit. It could be an issue with that connector, or something else internal that is causing the unit to believe no battery is connected. Hope this helps
