I have a brand new SMT1500RM1U UPS that i installed in a rack, connected the battery pack in front and plugged in to an AC (119 VAC) source.

When the unit powered up and did self test i received an error indicating "Connect battery" with audible alarm and red led flashing. is there anything that has to be done during initial power up other than this? I have not checked the voltage at the battery as of yet, but the unit was just purchased, shipped to the installation site and plugged in. I will get the serial number and more details tomorrow, but wanted to check to see if there was something i did not do during the initial power up?
