I have some of these UPSs. I need to get a continuous more-or-less real time monitoring of line voltage going in. It is my understanding that there is APC software for my unit that does that when using an external PC. I have downloaded the software shown on the APC site but it will not install. I am running the current release of Win 10 Pro.
When I download the file I get a message that I have to install an old version of some MS software. I do that; it fails to install and reboots my computer. Multiple tries.
And the software from APC will not allow continuing.
Any newer APC software that works?

Hi,
As Voidstar mentioned the UPS should have shipped with the cable 940-0127. The cable is RJ50 on one end and USB on the other.
The USB end gets connected to the computer and the RJ50 end is connected to the UPS port labeled Data.

Hi,
PowerChute Personal Edition requires .NET 2.0 to be installed on the system to allow the application to run. See Artie response dated 9/6/2016 to
for assistance installing .NET

Thanks Bill. I went to artie's explanation. I knew I needed Net 2.0, but instructions from PowerChute need to explain this. And I noted that I knew this in 2016, when I read his post.
Is there anyone to contact to get APC to fix the download process to stop requiring a download that is no longer meaningful and causes a reboot in Win 10.

An unrelated issue - this is a strange forum application.
On to the point.
I installed the correct .net based on artie's information.
I tried again to install PowerChute, it started, but then it failed. It required a USB connection to a APC device to install. Again, why does not APC provide any help file to explain the idiosyncrasies of their software?
Interesting issue. Instructions say USB. Port on the back of the XS-1500 is labeled USB. Unfortunately the port so labeled (really) is an Ethernet connection. I am going to try an Ethernet connection and see what happens. But this is likely, at best, to mess with my MAC assignments. Wanna bet?
APC is seriously remiss in providing sufficient information to use their "user friendly" application. It just should not be this hard.
I will post again after trying Ethernet. If I get it to work, I am wondering if the APC software can deal with multiple APC devices on the same net. Not optimistic based on what has happened so far.
This is an incredibly poorly designed web site!! Someone at APC needs to give lollipops to their grade school daughter to rewrite this.
Tried the Ethernet port (AKA USB port); failed. APC software does not recognize the Ethernet attachment. Nothing shows up to define a MAC address. This is getting really old!
Anyone know how to get this working?

Hi Hal,
The BackUPS should come with a connector that is USB on one side and RJ-50 (similar to ethernet) on the other. The one I have has a part number 940-0127B.
