Hi
I'm a french user of two APC's BackUPS 700VA (one at home and one at my office).
Both works perfectly BUT the one in the office doesn't make beeps anymore ! It correctly supply power but doesn't produce any sound (except the click) when it occurs.
It's pugged on a Synology DS214Play but I've cheked with PowerChute. There no information about that and the software says that the device works fine.
Any ideas ?

On some models, the alarm beeper can be disabled in software by sending the right commands to the UPS. This only affects the beeps that sound when the unit is on battery. Other beep signals would still be heard (battery failure, overload, and power button beeps (if your UPS has a power button instead of a toggle switch).
If no beeps are produced by the unit at any time, the beeper or its driving circuitry could have failed.
If your situation permits, you can try resetting the UPS by performing what is called a "brain dead". Safely power down your attached load, disconnect the UPS from the wall outlet and disconnect the battery. Depress the power button or toggle the power switch on for about two seconds. You may hear the UPS produce some sounds. These can be ignored.
Reconnect the battery, plug the UPS back in, reconnect the protected loads and see how the UPS behaves. If this does not help, the beeper circuit may have failed or something issued a command telling the UPS not to beep when the power fails.
