Back-ups Pro 1100 freaked out.
I bought 3 Back-ups Pro 1100, 2 for my home theater and one for my desk where my server and desktop systems are. 4:00 AM this morning I woke up to some strange sounds coming from my desk. I went out to find the ups chirping, beeping and all the lights flashing on and off. My server was also powering on and off. I plugged everything into the wall and it will be about 8 hours till raid verify is done to find out if I lost anything. If it had failed in a normal manner (showed overload, bad battery or just shut off) that would be one thing, but this. This is what you buy an ups to prevent. Is this going to happen to the other two? Should I replace all three.

This model stinks and most people have been less than pleased with it. I think it works fine as a normal dumb ups but its monitoring capabilities are next to nil. It also may have a larger capacity than others but I am not sure that the batteries are as good as other units. They may not be the deeper cycle batteries that are more robust and can handle frequent service interruptions. If I were you I would trade them in to Apc and get credit towards the purchase of new units. They will take your old units back prepaid and you will be doing something good for the environment as well.
