Back-UPS model BE700G - too slow to respond?

This was originally posted on APC forums on 9/27/2010

Got one of these units a couple of weeks ago mainly because brownouts cause my home ADSL modem/ router to drop out. This means it comes back with a new IP address and that can cause problems with email blacklists.

So I was hoping that once I found a "good" IP address the router would keep hold of it by staying powered up.

Unfortunately, the BE700G just doesn't catch these interuptions - had one today and everything went off. Power came straight back but everything connected - LCD monitor, NAS, Printer and the modem/router all had powered down and back again.

I've got it set on max sensitivity, but am I just expecting too much for it to catch glitches?

Sorry not to reply - been travelling for a couple of days.

Yanked the mains plug out and it worked perfectly - modem/router stayed up which is precisely as I'd hoped.

So I guess the issue is exactly as you suggested - that the switchover point is at too low a voltage so when the voltage dips for a time it doesn't switch to battery but the voltage is too low to hold the connected equipment up.

It's all connected through wallwarts or power bricks and I had thought that might be a good thing as the voltage input range is usually pretty wide.
