I happened on the link below where in the second post there is an instruction (reprinted below) for resetting the microcontroller in the Back-UPS. A few questions about resetting the microcontroller:

What might resetting the microcontroller accomplish and when this should be done?
Does resetting the microcontroller also change or reset the battery calibration?

It's also possible to reset the UPS microcontroller. Power down the attached load safely, turn off the UPS, disconnect the battery and unplug the power cord. Depress the UPS power button for a few seconds. Reinstall the battery, plug the unit back in and power it up. Thanks
