Just replaced my 3-year old Back-UPS XS800 with the XS900 (can;t wait for a replacement battery to be delivered). After having the XS900 for 3 days, one full day of charging without load, the status only shows 98% capacity and charging. Is this ever going to be fully charged at some point or the cells are simply marginal in the unit?
Incidentally, the unit would drop as far down to 92% and gradually go back up to 98%, but never 100%.

Just filed (ANOTHER) a phone complaint about a 2008 unit on it's SECOND replacement battery and was told "it's out of warranty...sorry".
Three years, three batterys...guess how happy I am?
Went to the "Trade UPS" page and found that a replacement from Newegg is cheaper than a TradeUPS from APC.
And I used to work for the founder of APC...guess how happy I am right now?

Hello,
Is this unit connected to a surge strip or a power extension? Or do you have it connected directly to the wall outlet? Does power fluctuate a lot in your area?
Try to do a runtime calibration on the unit. Attach about 30% of non-critical load to the UPS and pull the plug, let it run on battery until it is completely depleted. At that point, plug the UPS back into the wall outlet and allow it to charge overnight. This will allow the unit to re-establish proper information from the battery and give you a more accurate reading.

Thanks for the reply, the unit is attached directly to a wall outlet and power has not fluctuated much in the last 3-4 years in my area. I actually have several XS 800's running without issues other than the one I replaced the XS900 with. I did the off-line calibration on day #3 and it did not help so I took it back to Fry's but they ran out the 900's because of a price cut + rebate, have to wait for a couple of days.
Meanwhile I was able to get a couple of good quality 1270's locally and salvaged the adapter plate from my 800 to resurrect the XS800 in the meantime, that unit tested and charged properly once the fresh cells were installed.
Thanks again.
