Model number: XS900 S/N JB0732017297
I tried to follow the instruction to get my UPS going, but when I push the Power ON/OFF switch, it goes:
On line - flashing
On Battery - lit
after 3 sec
On Line - off
On Battery - lit
This is under a no load condition. The circuit protector is not tripped.
And then it keep beeping every 30 sec....
I leaved it plugin for a full 24 hours before I tried the above, but I don't know if the UPS is actually charging the battery because there is no indicator to tell.
I also try to change to programming mode as the troubleshooting guide suggests, but it will not go into that no matter how long I hold the button.
My questions:
1. What is the proper way to charge the unit?
2. How do I make my unit goes on line?
3. How do I make my unit goes into programming mode?
Thanks
Daniel

If it is not going into programming mode, it may not be getting the AC power from the outlet (due to whatever reason).
Can you please plug a simple device, such as a lamp, into one of the "surge only" outlets while the UPS is plugged into a good working outlet? This will at least prove that voltage (clean or otherwise) is reaching the UPS.

hi,
well i think we can say that the UPS is definitely on battery and for some reason is not seeing your AC power from the wall outlet coming in. So, this may be a dumb question but, is the input power cable to the UPS plugged into the wall outlet? if so, can you try a different outlet/circuit in the house where you know something else is working just fine?
if you cant get anywhere by doing any of the above, it may be useful to install the powerchute software on your computer and hook up the USB data cable to see if the UPS is seeing any input voltage and it should note the reason of why the UPS is on battery in there.
i'll answer your questions below.
1. What is the proper way to charge the unit?
You can leave it plugged into the wall, with good AC power overnight with or without anything plugged in. If items are plugged in and turn on, it just may take a little longer. the manual recommends 16 hours at least with nothing plugged in but i dont think it matters personally.
2. How do I make my unit goes on line?
Refer to my notes above.
3. How do I make my unit goes into programming mode?
You need to turn of the UPS. It needs to be plugged into the wall and receiving good AC power. then you need to hold down the on/off switch for about 10 seconds until all of the LEDs start flashing, then push the on/off button to change the sensitivity. this may or may not help your situation. sensitivity is how sensitive the UPS is to electrical noise and power disruptions.
->In your case, since the UPS doesnt see your good AC voltage coming from your wall outlet (if it is definitely plugged in), then it won't go to programming mode. I'd recommend using the software because it will be the easiest and most informative solution as to whats going on here. Also, trying another outlet/circuit/or even house may tell us something
