Back-UPS XS 800 Keeps Switching To Battery Mode

I have had this Back-UPS XS 800 for a couple years now, and just recently it keeps going back and forth between regular and battery mode for about 1-5 seconds at a time. At first it happened just once or twice in a day, and now it's happening about 10 times a day. I ran the self-test on the unit from the client software, and claims to be functioning just fine. Is there something wrong with my unit?
Cheers,
m.f

thanks for the post. at this time APC does not have an answer to your problem. i spent 45 min with “tech support” with the answer, “there is something wrong with the unit.” APC could not tell if it was battery or ups failing. tech support is a joke. going to buy a new unit now.

Only about half of the change-overs do appear in the PowerChute's Performance breakdown. All of them show as 'Blackout's nothing for Electrical Noice, Undervoltage, or Overvoltage. This is the same outlet I've always had this plugged into, and the issue just recently started occurring a week or so ago, and getting progressively worse. Is this a sign of eminent failure for the unit?

can you provide us the first few digits of the serial number..such as JB0645? that will tell us how old it is.

does powerchute personal edition pick up any events under the performance section to indicate whether or not the UPS thinks there is any electrical noise, etc? i am just wondering what the UPS thinks the issue is and if it is reporting it to the software.

something might have changed. i dont think it is fair to assume it is the UPS rather than the electrical outlet.

is it possible to move it temporarily to another circuit in the household?

I could try that. It'll probably have to wait till this weekend. There's a file server and various other devices connected to it at the moment. I just lowered the sensitivity of it, and it hasn't happened since I did that, but I don't know that it's been long enough to say for sure.
