Back-UPS XS 1300 - Batter error icon (event 18)

Hello,

I have a Back-UPS XS 1300 that has been working fine until this morning at 8 when I got a beep alarm and a battery icon flashing. Is my battery dead? I try to run a diagnostic by holding the power button, but when it attempts to switch to battery, it immediately goes back to power. If I shut down my computer and repeat the the above mentioned, it goes into battery mode, then switches to power and no alarm goes off. As soon as I turn on my PC, it displays that error.

Unfortunately no, I am not running powerchute as I am using ubuntu linux. All it says is event 18, flashes a battery icon with an x in the middle and the alarm sounds unless I silence it.
I turned off my PC, ran a test and it goes into battery mode, but when I do this when the PC is on, it displays the error.

It was fine before Sunday.

If you are seeing a flashing battery icon with an X mark on it, it means that the UPS detects that there is no battery connected on it. We call it as Disconnected Battery Condition. Since you haven't mentioned the model number of your UPS, I used BX1300LCD as the base model.
