Hi People,
I have a 1000VA unit and today we had a 45 second power outage. The UPS did not keep my computer on at all. Come to think of it, the last time we had a power bump (not even an outage) my computer shut down as well.
I just checked the battery connection and everything appeared fine. The battery shows 100% charged. The funny thing is if I unplug the UPS from the wall the battery kicks in fine and my computer stays on for several minutes with less than 20% battery usage.
Any ideas? Faulty circuit board, but good battery?
Unfortunately, my UPS is long out of warranty as it was purchased in 2003.

Your battery is 5 years old, right? I don't know if what you told us can happen to a worn out battery I mean, to output enough power for a few minutes and all of a suddend not provide enough power to run for a few seconds and then be "okay" again.
APC recomends changing the battery every three years...

Hi,
During this outage, did the computer do a graceful shutdown or just a hard shutdown?
What is the total runtime reported by the software?
