Replaced the battery on my five year old Back-UPS RS 800. Installed the new battery, but when restarting UPS, I'd get a green light then also a solid red "Replace Battery" light. Warning sound was "bip-bip...bip-bip..." followed after a minute or so with intermediate beeps.
PowerChute would tell me the battery has connected, then two seconds later that the battery was disconnected.
Didn't find an exact solution in any of these forums, but I figured it out and thought I'd contribute an answer.
The RS 800 uses the #32 cartridge, which is two batteries linked together on a common base with a single wire. The shipping was a little harsh, and I remembered that the sticker that holds the batteries together was loose when I unpacked it. I undid the stickers, and found one of the connectors to one of the batteries was off. Having a single cell was enough to have it almost work, but not quite!
Reconnected cell, reinstalled, and all is well. If you have a problem after replacing a battery, check the battery itself, as contents may shift during delivery.

Thanks! This information I'm sure will be useful to someone! Keep in mind also that these batteries do carry a one year warranty if they are genuine APC batteries, so if there are any physical issues with them that you are not able to resolve, you may feel free to contact APC.
But it is great that you were able to resolve the issue on your own!
