Hello Forum
We bought a Back-UPS Pro 900 (BR900GI) a few weeks ago, runs fine for three weeks.
One night it decided to show error F06 Relay Welding and switched all connected devices off immediately, even though there was power from the grid and backup battery should last for 80 minutes.
We connected APC Support and get a refurbished device within 3 days, perfect service, even if the exchange unit show clear traces of use!
This refurbished device runs for one week only. And you might guess it: same error at the new device and same stupid behavior, all connected devices switched off immediately. Wow!
Now a third device is on the way. But there is a very bad smack and a few open questions. We have massive concerns to connect our devices to a third APC device again, especially because we lost data on the last heroic and needless power cut (shure there is always a backup, but it takes time...).
1. Is there a widespread failure around with a defective or faulty relay?
2. In our opinion when there is power from the grid available and battery backup is full, isn't it stupid to switch all connected devices off (above all the APC device itself is running on)? It does look like a design flaw to us.
3. How can we further relate on APC devices, mainly we sold them to our customers too?
Thanks in advance for your meanings and input.
Ric
Update:
We have received the third device. This one runs for three weeks and shoes the same stupid thing saturday night. Again we lost data...
We have not received any answer from APC regarding the other two devices, nor any statement about this case.

Push
Is there no one out there having a mind on this?
Is it possible we made any mistakes forcing the APC devices acting like this? Maybe this is normal?
I'm a little bit confused about getting no answer on this in a APC Forum...

I have had 3 of them. All three have been faulty. All 3 have had unfixable errors. F2(2 of them) F06(my newest one). All in short life periods. It's just a bad product. It is time to go to another device.

In accordance with an APC engineer the Back-UPS is not really qualified for securing devices with PFC power supplies, see [http://emea-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8883|http://emea-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8883] because of very high switching circuits. Albeit of having only one device connected to a 900VA ups it brings the same failure again and again.
It makes we wonder because they advertise the back-ups for computer devices wherever I look but... So forget about the good-looking and good-priced back-ups and go for the good old black brick: a smart-ups.
So we decided to go for another type and bought a smart-ups (SMT1000), which is in fact much higher in price but works perfectly like expected.
To mention this also the APC support is very fast and cooperative, so this lead us to go on with APC. Hope your experiences will be the same.
