Back-UPS ES 750 from 2009-10 issues with w11 and PowerChute Serial 1.0.0.301

I have a old Back-UPS ES 750 from 2009-10. When I setup my new w11 pc, it kept telling me that I had 0 min of runtime via hwinfo64. I figured it needed a new battery, so I bought a true APC battery for 2x the cost of a generic. After letting it charge overnight with the ups powered off, the info was the same. When I tried to test the pc would shut down within 1 min of going on UPS.

I tried the procedure to "brain dead" the unit with no change. Procedure: https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA158947/

I did a manual battery calibration with at 307w load. Did it twice, it ran each time it ran for 7 min each time. I let it charge with no load overnight before testing each time.  Procedure: https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA284198/

I have a watt meter plugged into the wall that shows the UPS, Computer and Monitor normally draw about 130W, peak when stress testing pc (CPU 100%, GPU 100%, heavy IO and All fans 100%) 390W.

Installed PowerChute Serial 1.0.0.301, as powerchute personal shows it is being discontinued.  Install went fine.

Test:

-Changed the data logging to ever 10 seconds

-Confirmed drawing 122W, ups says 22% load (Should be drawing 165W or say 16% load)

   - pulled UPS plug from wall for 5 min 16:04 - 16:09 2023-05-12

         -UPS did normal PF beeping

-Event log shows not power interuption

        - Status page which I refeshed at least 10 times showed not changes and did not show PF

-Data log showed no change from before - through - after PF other than time stamp

------FAIL------ It looks like the software thinks it sees the UPS but it never updates the information or acknowledges a PF.

When I pull the UPS - USB cable from PC and reinsert it after 10 seconds. The status page and event log shows "UPS Communication Lost" logging out and back in does not reset it. So it shows it is at least using the communication path, just not getting any valid info.

Attached is the PowerChute Files ZIP Archive

Any idea or help is greatly appreciated.

Mike

@mthomant

Please uninstall PowerChute Serial Shutdown and install PowerChute Personal Edition from the link below.

https://www.se.com/ww/en/product-range/61934-powerchute-personal-edition

Test the UPS with PowerChute Personal Edition and let me know if you see the same behavior.
