Back-UPS ES 750 (BE750BB) beeping

This was originally posted on APC forums on 8/2/2009

I just replaced the battery on subject UPS purchased in 2006. Twice since then the unit has woken me from sleep emitting what I believe to be 3 beeps. This occured first about a week ago (about a week after replacing the battery without incident) at apx. 5:55 AM then again last night at midnight. In both cases, the beeps were heard only once and nothing else on the same circuit was powered down sufficiently to register a real power outage, even if brief (I have an electronic clock that shuts down if you look at it hard on this same circuit). The User Guide for this model (SN AB0548144955) mentions a 4 beep mode, but nothing about 3 beeps. Assuming that I am missing a beep due to being completely asleep each time this has occured and actually 4 beeps are being emitted, then perhaps a brown out or sag circuit in the UPS is the cause. But, since my very sensitive clock is not tripping out, then the sag/brown out threshold must be set to high. How can it be reset? Or, does anyone else have a thought on this subject. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sam,

It appears to be battery backup alarms(4 beeps every 30 seconds). You can disable the battery backup alarms permanently or during night through APC Power Chute Personal Edition Software. The UPS sensitivity also can be adjusted through the software.

Do you have the Power Chute Personal Edition Software on your Computer? If not, click on the below link to download the PCPE software.
http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=129&ISOCountryCode=US

The PCPE software requires a RJ45 to USB in order for it to recognize the UPS. The UPS sensitivity adjustment and battery backup alarms can be configured only on Windows OS Computers(Windows XP, 2000 and Vista).

The PCPE has got Performance History option to view the last Battery transfer and the reason for the battery transfer.

I hope that this helps.
