Today I heard beeping from this unit, two beeps and the green light flashing. I did read APC FAQ but two beeps are not mentioned there. I shut down the load, turned the UPS off and on and tried to turn the load on and it failed with continuous beep (as there was overload - there's not). It keeps giving two beeps and flashing green light with no load connected. Time to throw it away?

Well, to conclude, since this unit has a red LED that is supposed to light up when the battery is bad and it didn't light up ...
Yesterday morning when I heard it beeping I couldn't figure out what's wrong and ordered a new UPS ... BR700G from Newegg. Today when I realized I need only a new battery I wanted to cancel this order ... went checking it on newegg.com ... it was marked as delivered. !? I didn't believe it and went to check my carport - there it was. I didn't rush the order, have you ever been mad because of fast shipping? 😉
Alright, out of curiosity I took an old (not that old really) battery that came off my Harley and hooked it up - the dang thing works.
Now, what do I do with this extra UPS?

If the battery is at 6 volts its way gone! All the specs on the new ups check out good.
Apc sets the timeleft then the ups will auto ajust that when the unit goes on battery, it will monitor the battery voltage fall rate and the load draw

Thanks for replies. 🙂
The serial is QB0528144163, methinks this means it's made in June 2005? The battery has never been replaced. And yes, we had a power outage a week ago. I wasn't home, but the PC powered by this unit sent me an email about power loss and there was no email about the power being restored. Meaning the outage was long enough to force shutdown. But it was a week ago, it was working fine after that.

How didn't I think of it? This battery is dead, it measures 6.5 V.
Thanks for your help, you gave me the clues i needed.

I had an almost identical experience recently. My battery is dead too. What I was annoyed about is the UPS unit didn't warn me. The light was steady green with the mains power on even though the battery is dead. I'll never buy that model again. Looking at a higher end model.

Well, why I asked was this is still the same UPS, just a motorcycle battery attached to it. So I figure that TIMELEFT time is incorrect because UPS has no way to sense the battery has more capacity than original.
