I have an older BX1500LCD model.
The unit needed a battery, but before I got the chance to order one the power went out, and my unit is now DEAD.
I left the unit in place without the battery as protection against surges. The local utility had an issue where we lost power on one phase (the one where the UPS is on of course) It was a burnt connection in the street that affected 12 houses. Ever since that the unit will not even power up. (Better the UPS than my computer, good sacrifice).
Upon investigation, and poor cash flow, I opened up the unit. Capacitor 69 was slightly bulged so it was replaced with no success. (22 uf 400V) Physically everything looks OK on the board. I do have line in power to the board but nothing to the transformer. (Circuit breaker is good). A schematic would really be helpful here.
I really like this unit (for the gracious sacrifice it made), but I have no cash flow to buy a new unit or trade it in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I believe this one will start with no battery... It did in the past. Can't hurt to jump one in to see.

I'm not sure about the BackUPS but some of APC's UPSes require a working battery to start up. See here.
