Hi All,
I have a question, and the "Ask APC" response literally told me they weren't the right department. I have to say I was disappointed in that.
I just purchased a Back-UPS 1300 XS (model BX1300LCD). The unit is working fine, and I like the LCD display on it. It's nice to get the stats without having to run software. However, I've come to realize that the unit isn't UL listed or certified in any way. I find that troubling, because not only does UL listing bring a host of safety checks, but APC themselves makes a big deal out of the UL certifications in their knowledge base. I think I'm going to take it back, but before I do, I was wondering of anyone could shed some light onto why a respected company like APC wouldn't be UL listing and testing some of its products. Maybe there's some bit of context I'm missing.
Thanks,
Jeff

Looking at the product page, I see it's been safety inspected by [TÜV Rheinland of North America, Inc.|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%9CV]: [certification document|http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/EFAN-6ZC4GB_R0_EN.pdf].
From what I hear, they're a bit stricter than uL although I'm not familiar with the details.
