I am interested in this UPS https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/Back-UPS-PRO-BR-1500VA-SineWave-10-Outlets-2-USB-Charging-Po... because it is compatible with PFC power supplies. I want to know if this unit has the option to expand with external battery packs like this https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/APC-Back-UPS-Pro-External-Battery-Pack-for-1500VA-Back-UPS-P...
The description for this battery pack says it is for the BR1500G. Will it also work with the BR1500MS? Also, is it safe to plug non-PFC stuff into a PFC compatible UPS?

Hi Travis,
The BR1500MS unfortunately does not have extended run capability, such as what the BR1500G has. Additionally, both units are compatible with PFC power supplies. The difference is that one outputs a Pure Sinewave (BR1500MS) and one outputs a Step-Approximated Sinewave (BR1500G). Some will say that Step Approximated Sine-waves can not support PFC/APFC power supplies, however this is not the case. Modifications have been made to the operation of the BR1500G so that it can support such a device. There is no concern with plugging non-PFC devices into a PFC device.
