Hello,
Sorry for the rookie question.........I have BR1500LCD with two computers hooked up to it. How do I set it to gracefully shut down each computer in the event of a power outage?

unfortunately, with Back UPS and Powerchute Personal Edition, you will only be able to gracefully shutdown one computer. This is a limitation of the hardware as well as the software. On a Back UPS, you need a physical connection (USB) between the UPS and computer and so the UPS only has one of those. Most home users only have one PC to shutdown.
to get one PC to shutdown, you can connect the RJ-45 to USB cable between the computer and PC and the operating system should recognize it. you can configure native operating system support or you can install APC's powerchute personal edition located on the disc that ships with the UPS to get a couple more features.
let us know if you have any other questions!

Actually you have the USB hub thing backwards.
USB operates on a Master/Slave relationship. One master, the PC, (the Master) connects to many peripherals, (slaves)
A USB hub allows one USB port on the Computer, to be shared by multiple peripherals.
There are USB sharing switches, but those still only allow one PC at a time to use the peripheral.

doesnt change anything unfortunately. the software would need to run multiple instances on a computer to be able to monitor more than one UPS no matter how many USB ports you have.

What would happen if you ran the connection from the UPS to a USB-hub instead of directly to the computer?
