We have a BC500 UPS and the red LED "Replace Battery" is on. I've replaced the battery, even charged it first, and the replace battery LED is still on. I tried a second battery and get the same result.
I read in this forum that pressing and holding the power button will reset the battery notifications. This did not work.
The UPS has 12v at the battery terminals (without a battery).
Suggestions to resolve this or is the UPS dead now?
Thanks!

Hi,
Try to reset the UPS
To do this, follow the below procedure;
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.
When the UPS restarts it should perform a self-test and if it passes the replace battery LED will go out.

Thanks for your response. Your suggestion did not resolve the problem. Replace Battery LED comes on as soon as the power button is pressed.

You need to run a UPS self test to clear a replace battery LED. To do this on this model UPS, you can do it via PowerChute software or holding down the power button for a few seconds until the online LED blinks.
(This is what your UPS looks like, right?)
We have a few different BK500 varieties available so I was just checking.

I tried holding down the power button for several seconds and the online button didn't blink.
Yes, that's my UPS, I just have the black version.
I can try to use the software to run a self test, but I can't do that for a few days.

I did some more research and tried to dig up a users guide. I am not sure if this unit would do the self test as I instructed you (but all other similar models did I thought). Anyway, can you turn the unit off and then on again? That would also cause a UPS self test to occur which is what it seemed to indicate in the user's guide (that the replace battery LED would disappear during the automatic self test interval (every 14 days) or if you turn it off and back on.
Perhaps the command for this via software is not supported so let's not pursue that, especially if it will take a few days and likely won't work.
