BI850SINE Backup UPS produces high frequency switching noise

Hi,
This is Karthik here from Bangalore. After a long analysis and suggestion from my brother (who uses APC backup home ups)On 14th Sep'15 I took BI850SINE UPS from Bhavani enterprises-Bangalore. I also took new  Exide IM4000 battery from them. We connected the UPS with my home wiring on the same day. Everything went fine during normal operation with BESCOM electricity. Once power went down the inverter produces high frequency audible switching noise(this is not hum or Beep sound) which i didn't faced with any other APC products (i have another APC UPS for my desktop). Even in standalone mode(without any load or input power) also it produces same kind of noises. Initially i though it may be  batter charging and settling time. But This issue is keep continuing even after 4 days. That means i believe something wrong with this product or design.
In my brother home we never experienced this kind of audible high frequency swithching noise issue for the same kind of APC UPS even after 3+years. Based on that experience only I purchased this product. Eventhough it is expensive as compared with other products in market, in order to get better Quality product i selected APC product.
 "Satisfied customer is silent advertisement"
But I am really surprised with this APC inverter Quality due to this audible noise. I hope APC will listen my voice(customer voice ) to rectify this issue at the earlier.
Thanks and regards
Karthik

Hi,

Yes i registered a complain with APC customer care and  I got a call from Luminous(.....!) service technician to check this issue. First i was surprised me  that  People from Luminous reponded to my request, then they clarified me that this product is actually manfacured by luminious for APC and they said that this switching noise is common for this product. Then i just showed them the Old APC product(of same APC BI sine UPS) which in my brother's house(just opposite to my house) and that doesn't produces this noise. They also acknowledged that in old product(manufacured by APC) doesn't have this swithching noise issue but it is there only in newer product. That was even surprised  me more.

Usually there could be a chances that in first version of product may have some issue and in later version that will be get fixed. But in this case the first product is like master piece without any of this issue but the second version (manufacured by luminous) has switching noise issue. This could only happen if either APC would have been compremised in quality of product manufacured by Luminous (for APC) or Luminous might be manipulating something in the product inorder to make more profit by compermising the quality.

If i(customer)am planning to buy luminous inverter then I would have been brought  that one  at cheaper cost instead of selecting expensive APC product. If i am selecting APC product, because I believing that APC is making quality product. For that i already have reference in my brother's house (without switching noise Note: here i am not talking about hum or buzzer sound).

I hope APC considering this issue by putting themself into my(customer's) shoes to find some solutions.

Thanks and regards

Karthik
