BE700G-UK not switching to battery

We had a power outage earlier this week, and my BE700G failed to switch to battery power (a BX700 in a different room worked perfectly).  I've tested today, having been away at the time, and it simply shuts down all sockets on loss of mains power.  Devices which are plugged in while the UPS is "on battery" also don't get power.

PowerChute shows the battery as 100% charged, with 38 minutes estimated battery time.  Current mains voltage is showing as 242-246V, which is in range for the UK (nominally 240V).  The UPS itself shows the green power light.  Master power socket is not enabled, so it's not a case of failing to switch quickly enough and then detecting the master as down.

Its last known intervention was in mid-December when it successfully intervened over electrical noise.  This is the only intervention PowerChute is reporting for the last 24 weeks - power here is generally stable, but the PC connected is not permanently powered on.

I'm aware battery life is finite, but I'd expect some indication of a dying battery, let alone one unable to provide any power.

What is the age of the UPS / battery? The description indicate the battery needs replacement.

The UPS should run a self-test every 14 days to test the health of the battery. The UPS may have report the battery is good based on the connected load. A way to test would be to connect a lamp or a static load to the UPS. Something that would be 30 to 60 % load and transfer the UPS to battery. If it fails quickly that indicates the battery needs replacement.
