BACK-UPS 1300LCD, Which Model?

Hello. I'm looking to purchase an APC BACK-UPS 1300LCD, but I'm finding three different models offered by online retailers:

BX1300LCD
BX1300LCD-CN
BR1300LCD

I understand that the BR model apparently includes protection for Ethernet and both Voltage Trim and Boost. However, I've stumbled across several threads (such as this one) that claim the most recent version of the BR includes only Boost, exactly like the BX models. Is this true? Since the BR is $40 more than either of the BX models, is the only real benefit Ethernet protection? Also, are there any differences between the regular BX and the BX-CN models?

Thanks!

Dave,

If you're sure that you do not have any equipment that requires protection through Ethernet then the BX1500LCD would be sufficient.

Good day Dave,

The AVR feature that those models are capable of is boost. For the older BR models, they are the white ones they do have Boost and Trim functionality. Back-UPS RS(BR) models can only be purchased from APC directly while the Back-UPS XS(BX) models are available for retails only. The CN at the end of the model number denotes that the units are meant to be sold/available for Canadian customers.

Hi Jon,

Thank you for the response. One last clarification, if you don't mind: as far as functionality is concerned, the three models are identical save the fact that the BR model has ethernet protection?

Cheers,
Deek

You are correct Dave, if we remove the Ethernet protection on the Back-UPS RS LCD they all have the same features. I've based my comments from what I see on the technical specifications page of these models.

So basically, if I'm not connected via ADSL and therefore do not require ethernet protection (with cable internet, there is no ethernet cable running direct from the wall to the system), then I'd be better of going with one of the less expensive BX models?

Thanks so much for your help!
