Hi,
Just wondering if new generation of Smart-UPS's are as reliable as the old SU models? I've used SU700 and SU1000's, rock solid after 9 years. I mean the new washing machines and fridges dont seem to last as long as the old, I guess manufacturers dont want it to last that long, so that consumers go out and buy more.
Regards

Most SUAs have USB support and I believe Kevin (The Notorious K) said somewhere that battery calibration is 100% accurate unlike the SU models.

From what I have read, and have been told, the SUA's are not subject to dropping the load during a self test, unlike the SU's. Dropping the load during a self test marks the SU's as unreliable, at least in my mind. Whether this situation occurs rarely, infrequently or once in a blue moon, doesn't affect how I view the SU's (or APC's) reliability.
I take it you haven't experienced a SU dropping a server, or switches in the middle of the day. When a UPS drops a load during a scheduled self test, it affects how I view the UPS's reliability.
I hope the SUA's don't have any "gotchas". Or if they do, APC informs us of the problem.
I have a SU700XL that has APC batteries, which I intend to make video of the self test, load drop. If you want to see the video, send me a private message with an e-mail address.
Jeff

The absolute max charger current the battery charger will draw is 136 watts.
