I was looking to get a new back-ups unit. did some research and it seems ALL the new back-ups units are noisy now?
so is there any that arent noisy? the one I have right now (RS1500) doesnt come on unless the power goes out and its running off the battery.. that seems to be working fine for years so why cant they just keep it that way?
so back to my question, any of the new UPSs have fans that dont run all the time? or not noisy if they do?
thanks

I got the BR1500G
plug it in, the fan runs for 3 hours, then turns off. its been silent since
I really like how it has a mute button. when running off battery you can turn off that annoying beep my old model would do. when your sitting right next to the unit its like "really? I know.." so its nice you can turn that off
also like the LCD display, you can see how many watts everything connected is using ect
thanks for the replies everyone, happy with my purchase 🙂

it would be sitting about 3ft from me. I'm just a normal person, expecting a normally acceptable noise level... I believe its somewhat universal how loud that should be?

I cant say Ive heard any noise from my BR1000G aside from a slight hum you need to put your ear right next to it to hear...

do you have one of the new smart-ups units by chance? I wish someone had a video of their noise level
odd thing is, on APCs website it says 45db for the back-ups pro, and smart-ups. that doesnt sound right, because theres endless links about the new smart-ups (especially) being very noisy. for some reason I think the noise level they claim must be listed wrong

what do you consider noisy? no UPS should draw so much attention in a home environment that causes you to wonder why it is so loud. Smart UPS may be a little bit noisier due to the fact they are usually installed in a rack or just in a data center environment where there is more heat, then say a home or home office type of environment.

i agree but in my own personal opinion, some folks don't necessarily agree with that.
i use a BR1000G in my home under my desk and don't hear a peep out of it. i only hear the expected slight hum of the inverter when the UPS is running on battery.
if i had to say, yes, the Smart UPS UPSs are a little louder but their fans are also a little more heavy duty. i have not had any issues with any Back UPS personally.

Well, as I posted in another thread, my BR1500GI is absolutely silent. During operation it emits a small buzzing sound while charging. I have only managed to get the fan to turn on if I unplug the mains power and thereby simulate a power failure. Otherwhise, this UPS is dead silent.
