About APC Back UPS 650 CS geographics origin.

Hi there,

First of all I bought yesterday an APC Back UPS 650 CS, and since it looked rather cheap and fragile I suspect that I was victim of an counterfeit, so I came here to confirm if there is an APC UPS production in philippine ?? because it appear made in philippine on the product box.

Also it can't handel my pc with the monitor on the battery outlet even if its a 650va, so my suspicion is becoming bigger.

Please I need an fast answer so I can claim a refund as soon as possible.

Yes, APC does manufacture UPS products in the Philippines.

Unfortunately there do appear to be counterfeit versions of APC products. Someone posted here recently with photos of a fake Back-UPS CS. If you do have a counterfeit product, any statement about where it was manufactured is probably fake as well.

Thanks for clarification, also the plastics and outlet  slots appear to be very fragile, I can make them move when If try to plug somthing into them, and there is no cd or usb wire for the software in the producte box, even if the sealing was perfect when I bought it....

This is a very sad suprise, I hope I can convince the store to give me a refund....

Hi Halulam,

Do you see a white sticker with a model and serial number (typically on the bottom or back of the unit). You can also take a picture of it for us to help verify that it is a fake. Where was the unit purchased from?

Thanks for your concern, I luckly got a refund from the seller and it seem like he don't even know about what he's really selling, I convinced him that the unit have no enough power for my pc.

There was no white sticker on the bottom nor on the back, I don't remember well but there was just a random description at the bottom printed directly on the plastic, but I saved the number part and other information on the UPS box :

Since I'm curious as to what you saw, can you make these pictures publicly viewable?

A counterfeiter could issue a fake or duplicated serial number. Given that you didn't get a communication cable, it is also possible that someone returned the unit because they had a problem with it.

It's either an counterfeit or a refurbished product with part of lower quality from other manufacturer, and they sell it as a new.

I had the same experience at Algiers. It seems to be counterfeit at 99%

J'ai acheté un Apc 650va (identique au votre) avec plusieurs signes de contrefaçon, je l'ai rendu immédiatement au vendeur.

Ce qui m'étonne c'est qu'on est très peu nombreux à avoir remarqué la contrefaçon alors que ces onduleurs ont été vendu par centaines (milliers?) en Algérie et ailleurs sans doute.
