APC UPS pricing and lead prices?

This was originally posted on APC forums on 10/16/2007

Checked the pricing on batteries from my usual supplier. It went up A LOT, 65% price increase since July.
I checked the metal pricing. Lead prices quadrupled in a little over two years.

Can we anticipate APC UPS prices to go up in response?

London Metal Exchange for Pb:
$3,980/MT Today Oct 15 2007
$1,664/MT Jan 2007 average
$1,000/MT June 2005

UPS pricing will follow similar trends to the pricing of lead in the market as productions costs increase.
