so my es500 was dying and had a long beeep. When light came back and i pressed the power button there was no light at all not even the replace battery light. the only part that works is the surge protection only not the battery backup side. in the powerchute program is says battery is currently: charged, remaining battery charge is : 100% and estimated battery time is 62mins... when i plug it out and back it i get a short beep 0.5sec

From the looks of it, it appears that your battery has died already. If you do have a UPS that has the same battery feel free to try and swap it. The normal life expectancy of our battery is 3~6 years depending on the conditions that it has been through. Since your UPS is almost 5 years old, I would suggest on getting a new UPS than a battery.
If you pursue on getting a battery, it is only the battery that would have warranty on it. We do have a program called TradeUPS wherein you could trade-in your old unit and get a new one with full warranty on both the UPS and battery.

Hi Nicholas,
Here is a good APC Knowledgebase Article that could help you out - [Equipment connected to a Back-UPS product turns off unexpectedly and/or reboots.|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20/kw/20]
Do you have any idea how old was your UPS and if the battery has been replaced before? If you have another unit of the same model, you can try to swap their batteries. Also, you can try to unplug the UPS from the wall outlet when it is off. Press and hold the On button, you would normally hear a short and a long beep. Release the On button as soon as you hear the long beep.
