APC Back-UPS ES 700VA 230V UPS (BE700G-UK) - purchased in late nov 2012.
Keeps shutting off all power seemingly randomly.
The power to the rest of the house is on and fine.
I have changed sensitivity settings and there is no problem there.
I wonder whether it's something to do with powerchute and win7?
Have a hunch that it might to do with the USB attachement from the battery to the computer... because when I use the usb card reader power raises a message saying that powerchute can't find the battery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because at the moment the APC is less than useless it's causing the damage that I bought it avoid...
Many thanks,
K

Hello,
I would like to ask if your UPS is directly connected into a USB port on your PC, if not is it connected on a USB hub? If it is on a USB hub, can you please try to connect it directly into the USB port of your PC and then check if the problem would persist. Also, do you see any message prior to the UPS being shut off?
It would also help if you could tell us what LEDs or beep the UPS produces before and once the UPS has cut off power.

It's used to shut down when connected to USB port on the front of my machine, I currently have it connected to a usb2 hub.
I'll swap somethings around, try it direct, and report back.

Am wondering whether USB selective suspend might be the issue... have disabled it and... well we'll see what happens

Yeah still shutting down without any change in current.
And have tested it plugged into uSB at the back of the computer - direct (no hub)
