APC Back-UPS ES-350 support for latest Iomega NAS ix2-dl?

I have an APC Back-UPS ES-350 unit. I recently replaced an older Iomega NAS with the new NAS ix2-dl.

The older Iomega NAS recognized the APC UPS unit (via the USB connection). The new Iomega NAS knows that a UPS is plugged in (when I look at the event log) but the Iomega NAS management software doesn't. When the power goes out, the battery eventually shuts down and the NAS doesn't gracefully shutdown (like my old one did).

Iomega support has been singularly unhelpful. They replaced my brand new NAS (that I had to pay to ship back) with a remanufactured one - same problem. They referred me to this site: http://www.networkupstools.org/stable-hcl.html and asked to check on the driver: usbhid-ups.

Does anyone have any ideas? If my APC Back-UPS ES350 doesn't support the new Iomega NAS ix2-DL, does anyone know which model does?

Thanks.

it might be helpful to know what their software is looking for so we can see if the UPS supports that. by what they've suggested, it seems like the software is looking for a USB HID device - usbhid-ups. is there anyway to confirm that with them?

but before you do that i guess, what specific model of Back UPS 350 is this? can you check the white sticker on the back or bottom of it? we have BE350R, BE350G, etc and they have different functionality so I just want to make sure before I check into it further.

am i correct in saying that you have the data cable connected between the NAS and UPS (the one supplied with the UPS - RJ-45 to USB)?
