I'm a rank newbie at using a UPS and the associated PowerChute Software but have successfully configured my APC BackUPS 1500VA to shutdown my PC after a 3 minute delay on loss of power. Also plugged into the battery side of my UPS are my wifi router, modem and leak detection system. The problem I discovered today when I tested it by unplugging the UPS from the wall is that shortly after the PC shutdown command is issued and the computer fully powers down within a minute the UPS also turns off and cuts power to the other hardware. Upon shutdown of the PC the UPS was still showing ~50min of run time and as soon as the PC turned off the number started climbing and seemed to stabilize around 180 min so this wasn't a low battery power issue... Is there a setting I'm missing that can change this behavior? Having that leak detection setup still be able to notify me if it detects water would be some nice peace of mind even if the UPS is only giving me another 3 hours of run time.

The lower end models do not have an option to initiate a graceful shutdown and keep the other loads powered.
The best you can do is buy another low end unit and manage just the PC.
Purchase a higher end unit that allows load shedding / timed outputs.

I suspected that might be the case. Thanks for the reply!
