AP7941 & DHCP
I have a dozen AP4791's and I recently wanted to assign them IP addy's to manage. I read that the AP7XXX models need to get an IP from a DHCP server with an option 43 set. From another forum post, I read:
---- The correct cookie should be set under option 43 on the DHCP server, the cookie can be broken down into three fields, the TAG field, the LENGTH field and the DATA field, the TAG field in the APC cookie is 01, the LENGTH field (LEN) is 04 (this specifies the length of the data field) the DATA field is 31-41-50-43, this represents 1APC , the complete Cookie is
OPTION 43 = 0x01 0x04 0x31 0x41 0x50 0x43 ----
My DHCP server (Juniper ScreenOS Gateway) allows me to set DHCP options as: String, IP, or Int. I attempted to enter option 43 as a string of:
0x01 0x04 0x31 0x41 0x50 0x43
but the PDU never picked up an IP addy.
We have dozens of other items on the network that are all getting DHCP addresses. We also have a console cable on order, but it is not arrived yet. Can anyone offer any other suggestions as to why the PDU would not be getting an IP from the DHCP server?
