1500VA comm cable extension needed
I have the 1500VA Tower UPS 865W 10 Outlet 420J RJ-45 Protection (Part#: BR1500G) that came with the standard simple signaling communications cable (Part #: AP9827).
My UPS needs to be hidden away about 10 feet from the computer with the powerchute software, and so I wondered if there is a best method of extending the cable as APC doesn't offer a solution?
Can I simply purchase a long USB extension cable to connect to the existing simple signaling cable? I believe it's usb -> RJ-45?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi,
Based on my investigation, the low speed of the USB chip would likely not be able to drive a longer cable. For that reason, we don't recommend a passive extension cable either on the RJ-45 or USB sides of this cable. The best solution we can provide is to use an active USB extension cable like NBAC0213L (http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=NBAC0213L) or a similar product from a 3rd party if you'd like.
