Thanks Bill!

I get that the power modules are a half bridge rectifier inverter so it needs two 192v sources. By the way, I think you are right, I think its the right thing to buy a new rack of batteries. I will be in contact with you.

Thanks for your replies, I appreciate your help.

Sincerely Mh, Fazail Waasai DABS SCADA member.

Hi,

I asked the 3 Phase support team in in North America and they recommend you contact 3 phase support in your region for assistance.

Here is a link to the main contact page for Schneider Electric support http://www.apc.com/us/en/support/contact-us/index.jsp After opening the link change the country to your location and you will be provided call in information along with an e-mail option.

Thanks Bill!

I did contact with APC authorities in here, they did come and checked the UPS, They said you need to change the batteries, the question is, Do power modules need batteries to start?

Hi,

A PX actually wont boot up correctly without batteries installed.  It used the DC bus to properly turn on the power modules, and if not there, the screen will certainly light up, but the UPS will have a “Start-UP Configuration Fault” and never be able to run online.  Typically for long term running you would maintain at least a 1 power mod : 1 battery row ratio.  So in practice for  booting up as well.  If you do not have a 1 to 1 ratio just keep extra power modules turned off.

Thanks Bill!

Our APC has 6 Rows of battery, In 1 Row of batteries, 4 Battery module each with 8 12v 9A Cells, each module 96v 9A (I bet you already know that). unfortunately all batteries are failed.

Can I Energize the DC Bus using a 192v external DC power bank to get sure the Power modules are fine and the main problem is the battery modules?

Hi,

Our recommendation would be to purchase a single row of (4) SYBTU2-plp batteries and attempt to start the UPS with one power module,  and then boot up the rest of the power modules from there.  The UPS was designed and tested with VRLA batteries as the DC power source, so we cannot recommend the use of other DC power.

That being said, do keep in mind that this is a midpoint battery system. At your DC terminals at the back of the UPS you have Positive(+), Center/Midpoint(C), Negative(-).  You would have 192V nominal DC from Pos to Center, and another 192VDC from Center to Negative.
