"critical Replace Battery" on SMT1500RM2UC
This morning we received a "critical" alert stating that the battery needs replacement on a SMT1500RM2UC deployed at another site. I checked battery info on the dashboard for this device and the following information was provided -
Battery
Runtime26 mins
Charge99%
Temperature 75°F
Replace ByFeb 21, 2026
This appears to be fine. Why are we getting notified about a battery replacement that is over 14 months out? Is there any reason we should be concerned about the reliability of this battery?

The battery cartridge is rated to provide 2-5 years of service based on usage, temperature, and environmental conditions.
Based on the replace battery date you have provided here the cartridge is at least three years old. The replace battery date is just a simple counter and has no baring on reality and the condition of the cartridge in place.
You can perform a simple lights out / grid down event test during a maintenance window to validate the same.
Pull the plug to see what happens. If the system shuts down immediately you have your answer - replace.
If the system continues to operate fine time how long it continues to run vs the estimated runtime displayed on the LCD before shutdown.
Compare the real operational runtime to the APC Runtime Calculator. If the APC Runtime Calculator indicates a specific load should provide 60 minute but you see 10-15 minutes - Replace.
If on the other hand you see 35-45 minutes it’s time to schedule / order a new replacement battery cartridge within the next 2-6 months.
All genuine APC RBC cartridges have a production date sticker what is it?!? What does the system indicate as the battery installation date?!?
