error in ATS ap7723

hi wish for you a good day,

i use ATS ap7723 , i put two source in it ,

i cant see the LED of source ( A ) as show in attached picture ,

i checked the source A by voltmeter from connector it's working but in screen doesn't work,

I've a power down in all racks suddenly every a couple of days ,

consider that Previous IT didn't configure management when they install it the ATS , so i couldn't have any report from it ,

i try to configure it but when it search for ATS network i couldn't find the ATS in serach , you recommend to reset it from the reset bottom for faster search but i cant have a risk down the rack to configure management.

i need to solve the issue of configure management in safe mode without any outage plus i'm seeking for your support and recommend for the issue of source A asap.

I would expect to see a green LED next to the "Input A" in your picture if the transfer switch was actually receiving power. If you have the serial console cable (normally 940-0144A) you can connect to the ATS serial console. From there you can see what the ATS thinks it is seeing on its inputs. For example, on an ATS with both inputs connected:

------- ATS Status ------------------------------------------------------------

Source A selected, Switchover Possible

Selected Source : Source A

Preferred Source : Source A

Switch Status : OK

Front Panel : Unlocked

Source A : Selected

Source B : OK

Phase Sync : In sync

Voltage Out : ON

Source A 24V Power Supply : OK

Source B 24V Power Supply : OK

+12V Power Supply : OK

-12V Power Supply : OK

5V Power Supply : OK

On an ATS with one source disconnected:

------- ATS Status -------------------------------------- crit: 1 warn: 0 -----

Source A selected, Switchover Not Possible

Selected Source : Source A

Preferred Source : Source B

Switch Status : FAIL

Front Panel : Unlocked

Source A : Selected

Source B : Not Ok

Phase Sync : Out of sync

Voltage Out : ON

Source A 24V Power Supply : OK

Source B 24V Power Supply : OK

+12V Power Supply : OK

-12V Power Supply : OK

5V Power Supply : OK

After looking at the ATS status, if it also says that source A is not OK, then you will need to further investigate the power going into the ATS (at the outlet) and if that is OK, you will need to replace the ATS.

I experienced the same issue with an AP7723 and I'm afraid your ATS will need to be replaced. The defect occurred during commissioning/testing of the new ATS whilst manually switching between 2 UPS input supplies (2 x SURT2000). One UPS generated an 'over-voltage' error and was also destroyed. Trouble is, I don't know if the ATS destroyed the UPS or the other way-round.

Having replaced both the UPS and APS, I then attached an earth bond to the chassis of the ATS. I then continually repeated the ATS input selection testing and the install worked seamlessly as designed.

I have no idea if I was just unlucky with the first failure, or if the addition of an earth bond made any difference in terms of voltage suppression. I'll raise a separate question on here to try and get some answers.

Hello,

By default, an AP7723 is configured to have Source A as the "preferred" source. If this setting is not changed, then the ATS will use Source A as the primary source. If A becomes unavailable, the ATS will switch to B, and will switch back to A after it has been available for ~30 seconds.

We had this exact same problem.  After opening 4 extra NEW boxes, we finally logged into the device and manually set the input power.  By default it was 230, and we use 208.  It was just enough for one side not to function.  After making the change, both LED's came alive, and all is good following testing.

Sorry for the frustration David. I know it may not help AP7723 users today and in the past but for our future generation of AP44XX series Rack ATS that were just recently released, we have now separated the 208V and 230V models into separate models/part numbers for customers to order and avoid this problem, based on the scenario you just explained.

Thus, moving forward, if you want 208V and used to buy AP7723, you can now order AP4434 which is set to 208V direct from the factory. If you needed 230V, AP4423 is what you should use. We have done the same for AP7721 which now is replaced by AP4421 or AP4433 depending on if you need 230V or 208V respectively.
