We had a power outage over the weekend in my neighborhood...was out for about an hour. One of the outlets in my unit had wall wart for a netgear 5 port giga-switch. I took it out and realized it wasn't getting any power (even after the power came on). I tried to plug something else into that same plug, but there appears to be something blocking it. the rest of the outlets are fine. attaching a pic if possible.

That metal piece is the ground clip which appears to have moved out of place. If the unit is still under warranty submit a RMA and a new unit will be sent out.
If the unit is out of warranty your options are to replace it with another. If you’re technically inclined you can simply open up the case to see what the problem is.
You should see three rows of brass rails. Each brass rail connects to line (hot), neutral, ground.
You’ll probably find one of the following issues.
Brass Rail: If any of the brass rails are broken. Stop, and replace the unit.
Bent: If the clips are bent or opened (too wide) just bend them back or close them with a set of pliers.
Housing: Each clip sits in their own plastic housing. Insure they are properly seated if not reposition them. If the housing is damaged - stop. Replace the entire unit as it’s no longer safe to use.
Let me know what you decide to do or find if the unit is opened. 👍
