Using Network Monitoring Software with APC UPS BX1200MI

I currently have an APC UPS model BX1200MI connected to my PC via USB (we have several APC UPS units) . I have successfully installed and configured the PowerChute Personal Edition v3.1 software, and it's working fine for monitoring my UPS locally.

However, I am wondering if there's a way to utilize network monitoring software instead of PowerChute Personal Edition v3.1. Specifically, I would like to monitor my UPS from our organization's monitoring server (Host Monitor) directly.

Is there any compatible network monitoring software that can be used with the APC BX1200MI? I am looking for a solution that allows remote monitoring and management of the UPS unit over the network, preferably one that can integrate with our existing monitoring infrastructure.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Best regards,

Aviad

You would need a UPS that has a monitoring card. The APC BX1200MI is only connected though USB. If your other UPSs have a networking monitoring card such as the APC AP9640 then yes you can monitor all of them. APC has software called POC software called Datacenter Expert at https://dcimsupport.ecostruxureit.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039289653-Data-Center-Expert-Virtual-Appl...

If you want to take a look at it.
As far as "integrating with your existing monitoring infrastructure." That would depend on your current monitoring infrastructure. But Struxureware does a really good job at alerting, FW upgrades, reporting, and the like as well.

Check out https://dcimsupport.ecostruxureit.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039289653-Data-Center-Expert-Virtual-Appl...

But this only works if your devices have a network monitoring care such as the AP9640

Indeed you need a network management card, to monitor or control it remotely through your network.
Yet for Back UPS, in the past some users used apcupsd (opensource daemon) to connect their UPS with USB on their computer, and then script the host monitor. But it still mean you need to go through the computer with the UPS on USB... and this can be a major flaw.

I hope you have Smart UPS for the rest of your infra, then you can use the network function thanks to network management cards.
